The George Inn, Brailes, OX15 5HN
Tel: 01608 685788
The Bar at the George is traditionally English and frequented by locals and visitors. It's a place where farmers meet and walkers recover. You will meet all types here. There is a regular selection of ales from the local Hooky brewery, an inglenook fireplace, stone mullion windows and some historic panels. There is even a suit of armour in the corner - which is known as George. The room dates before 1350 when the stonemasons who built the church were housed at the inn. Outside we have a large garden with seating, conservatory, covered smoking area and a car park. Dogs and children are welcome.
Brailes is a large village located along the B4035 between Banbury (10.3 miles) and Shipston on stour (4.1 miles). It has a huge variety of historic buildings to see and many fine walks.
The church site is a thousand years old and the existing building dates back to the early 1300's. Known as St. George's Church it has the second largest six bell peal in the world. The tenor bell weighs one and a half tons. Just south of the village you will find the earthworks of a medieval castle.
